Description
Aurora Haskap (Lonicera caerulea ‘Aurora’) — cold-hardy honeyberry shrub producing sweet elongated blue-purple berries in late spring, one of the earliest fruiting shrubs available. USDA Zones 2-7.
Aurora is a top-performing haskap/honeyberry cultivar prized for its large, sweet-tart elongated blue berries that ripen well before blueberries. The multi-stemmed deciduous shrub grows 3–6 feet tall with lance-shaped foliage that displays attractive red and orange tones in fall. It thrives in cold climates where few other fruit shrubs can survive — hardy to Zone 2.
For best fruit production, plant Aurora alongside a compatible haskap cultivar such as Tundra or Borealis for cross-pollination. Berries can be eaten fresh, frozen, or made into jams, juice, and baked goods. Ideal for edible landscapes, homesteads, and cold-climate food gardens. Full sun, well-draining soil, low maintenance once established.
